Most states do not pre-approve online PHD course provides and leave the decision to choose an appropriate provider to the individual. To the best of our knowledge, only the States of Louisiana, New York, North Carolina, and Florida require an approval process for online continuing education course providers. 
For most other states:
- Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board's requirements. Usually, a course must maintain or develop the skills and knowledge in your field of practice as a professional engineer.
- Many states require a few PDH hours to be in the area of ethics. Some have specific requirements regarding safety.
- Some states approve courses in areas that are indirectly related to engineering such as general management, marketing, and cost accounting; some don’t. Please check your state’s requirements for certification.
- PDHTech.com maintains records of all online PDH course work for seven years. You may access our online database using your email and password. These records include your name, the course name, the number of PDH credits awarded, and the date of completion of the course. You may request a copy of these records online for audit or verification purposes. You may also download and print out additional copies of your certificates of completion for each course.
- The following states require continuing education credits for renewals of professional engineering license but do not specify pre-approval or certification of the courses or the providers:
